Major Drug Bust in Karimganj: One Lakh Yaba Tablets Seized, Two Arrested

Karimganj: Police in Karimganj district have arrested two drug peddlers and seized one lakh Yaba tablets, valued at approximately ₹30 crore, during an anti-narcotics operation. The seizure occurred last night in the Gandharaj Bari area, under the Ratabari Police Station jurisdiction.

A senior police officer reported that the operation followed specific intelligence inputs. Police intercepted a vehicle and discovered the large quantity of Yaba tablets. A detailed search revealed that 10 packets of the tablets were hidden inside the vehicle's fuel tank.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Nazmul Hussain and Mutlib Ali. The total market value of the seized drugs is estimated at around ₹30 crore.

In a related incident earlier on June 7, Assam Police confiscated 1.7 kilograms of heroin worth ₹8.5 crore and arrested a suspect near the Assam-Mizoram border. The operation took place in the Dholaikhal area, near the Dholaikhal Border Outpost, under the jurisdiction of Dholai Police Station. According to Numal Mahatta, Superintendent of Police of Cachar district, the heroin was believed to have been transported illegally from Chaiphai, Mizoram.
