The film is based on the third battle of Panipat, which was fought between the Maratha Empire led by Sadashiva Rao Bhau and the armies of King Ahmed Shah Abdali of Afghanistan. Panipat, directed by Ashutosh Gowarikar, is scheduled to be released on December 6, 2019.
