Malaysia : After a cluster of possible cases of the Omicron strain of Covid-19 was found in Singapore, Malaysia's Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin announced on Wednesday that the sale of vaccinated travel lane (VTL) airplane and bus tickets will be suspended.

According to Khairy, the suspension will last from December 23 to January 20 of the following year, after Singapore's announcement of a similar policy. According to Khairy, three Covid infections were involved in the Singapore cluster. "There was no history of travel to foreign nations in any of the three cases," he stated.

The VTL began on November 29 and included transit over the Malaysia-Singapore bridge as well as an air corridor. Before the pandemic, the bridge link, or causeway, was one of the busiest crossing locations in the globe, with hundreds of thousands of people crossing in both directions on a daily basis. As part of the VTL, some limitations were eased, including the elimination of quarantine requirements for fully vaccinated individuals.
