Congress MP Mallikarjun said on Jitin Prasada's joining BJP said, 'I Never ignored him'

New Delhi: Senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Mallikarjun Kharge has reacted after former Union Minister Jitin Prasada joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Recently, he said, 'It shouldn't have happened. In his statement, he said, "Jitin Prasada was a traditional Congressman" Let us tell you that Jitin Prasada had joined BJP last Wednesday in the presence of Railway Minister Piyush Goyal and MP Anil Baluni. He had earlier met Home Minister Amit Shah.

Mallikarjun Kharge recently said, "Jitin Prasad was respected by all in the Congress. They were not ignored. He was the party general secretary, in-charge of Bengal, always allowed to contest elections. He accuses the Congress and ideology for which he and his father worked. He suddenly changed his stand, it is very sad. Maybe 8-10 years may not be good for us, but that doesn't mean we should give up ideology. It should not have happened". Moreover, last Wednesday, Kharge had reacted to Prasad's visit to the BJP saying, "The visitors keep going, no matter how hard we try, we cannot stop them. But the way Priyanka Gandhi is working in Uttar Pradesh, wherever injustice is done, whether it is with farmers, dalits or minorities, Priyanka Gandhi keeps fighting on all issues. He should have supported her".

So far, there has been mixed reaction within the Congress since Jitin Prasad joined the BJP. Yesterday, Congress leader and former Union Minister Milind Deora had said, "The Congress should try to get its old position and there are still leaders within the party who can get the expected results if empowered and used properly".
