The fugitive liquor businessman and founder of the now-defunct Kingfisher Airlines, Vijay Mallya, may be extradited to India anytime in the next few days amid the lockdown and the Corona crisis. Senior government sources said on Wednesday that all the formalities related to Mallya's extradition have been completed. A senior source of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) said, "We will bring Mallya back from India to India at some point in the coming days."

On which day this extradition will take place, he refused to tell. According to the ED source, Mallya's petition has been dismissed in the Supreme Court of Britain. The Indian Investigation Agency has completed all the legal formalities for his extradition. CBI and ED teams are working on his extradition. A CBI source associated with the case said that after extradition, we will first take him in custody as we had first filed a case against him.

The biggest obstacle in Mallya's extradition was overcome on 14 May when Mallya lost the case against his extradition. Now the government has to bring it back within the next 28 days. 20 days have already passed since 14 May. He should be brought back within the next 8 days, however due to the case registered against Mallya in Mumbai, he can be brought to Mumbai by plane. If Mallya lands at the airport at night, after his medical checkup, he will have to spend some time in the CBI office and if he is brought to Mumbai during the day, he will be produced directly in the local court. The CBI will appeal for his custody.
