Kolkata: West Bengal CM and Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday hit out at PM Narendra Modi alleging that the second wave of coronavirus in the country and its management is a "Modi-made tragedy". Addressing an election rally here, Mamata Banerjee claimed that West Bengal will be led by the "Bengal Engine" government and not Modi's "double engine" government.

Mamata said, "The second wave of corona is quite deadly. I would call it a Modi-made tragedy. Neither injections nor oxygen exists. Vaccines and medicines are being sent out while they are scarce in the country'. She further said, "Our state will be run by the Bengal Engine Government and not Modi's double engine government. We will not allow Gujarat to take over our State and run the raj from Delhi".

It may be recalled that BJP leaders are often appealing to the people to form a double engine government in the state during their election campaign, which means that there should be a single-party government at the Centre and in the states. The TMC supremo also appealed to voters not to vote for the alliance of Left parties, Congress, and Indian Secular Front (ISF) and claimed that it would strengthen the BJP.
