Kolkata: Following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's statement that the three farm laws would be repealed, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee praised farmers on Friday, saying that the move by the Centre is a victory for every single farmer who worked tirelessly.
"My sincere congratulations to every single farmer who battled relentlessly and and were not fazed by the cruelty with which BJP treated you. This is your victory day! My heartfull congratulations go out to everyone who has lost a loved one in this conflict "The chief minister sent out a tweet.
Banerjee had expressed her support for farmers protesting against the Centre's three agriculture laws near Delhi's boundaries. Singhu Border was visited by a delegation of Trinamool Congress (TMC) MPs. Banerjee met with Rakesh Tikait, the leader of the Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU), in Kolkata earlier this year.
