Kolkata: West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee today expanded the cabinet on Tuesday. In the reshuffle, CM Mamata Banerjee has held charge of the finance department, while former finance minister Amit Mitra has been made economic advisor. The proposal was flagged off at a cabinet meeting held in the West Bengal Assembly on Tuesday.
According to the state cabinet decision, Pulak Roy has been given additional charge of the panchayat department. He is currently the minister of the public health technical department, while the Minister of State for Health Chandrima Bhattacharya has been given additional charge of the finance department. On the other hand, Minister Manas Ranjan Bhuiyan has been given the responsibility of additional charge of the Department of Consumer Safety. After the recent death of Subrata Mukherjee, the post of Panchayat Minister was vacant and Consumer Safety Minister Sadhan Pandey is also very ill. Meanwhile, Amit Mitra has not contested the assembly elections this year due to ill health. Birbah Hajda has been given the additional responsibility of the crafts restructuring department. He was already in charge of the minister of state for forests.
