New Delhi: The Central government is going to increase the strength of the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi through a law. There is now a protest in the electoral state of West Bengal. Amidst the confusion of campaigning, West Bengal CM and Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee has written to Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal announcing her support in the fight against the Delhi Government Act Amendment Bill. Mamata Banerjee has termed the Delhi Government Act Amendment Bill as a surgical strike on the federal structure of the Indian Republic.

In a letter to Arvind Kejriwal, CM Mamata Banerjee wrote, "PM Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah are not able to forget the defeat by you in the 2015 and 2020 assembly elections. They want to run a proxy government in Delhi, which is the real purpose of bringing this bill." CM Banerjee further wrote, "I am absolutely convinced that now is the time to unite and fight against the BJP's attack on democracy and the Constitution in an effective manner. I am particularly against the BJP's plan to reduce the powers of the state governments and restrict them to the municipal level only. I would like to write to all non-BJP chief ministers across the country and appeals to support you."

In the letter, Mamata Banerjee has given her support to Arvind Kejriwal's struggle in the entire matter and wrote, "Your struggle is my struggle. I and my party Trinamool Congress stand in solidarity with you and your principled opposition against the cunning, undemocratic, and unconstitutional step taken to reduce the powers of the Delhi CM and bring it under the Lieutenant Governor.''
