New Delhi: The fight between Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have started for next year's proposed assembly elections in West Bengal. The political battle is also showing an impact on the synergy between the centre and the state government. PM Narendra Modi on Thursday attended the centenary celebrations of Visva Bharati University, under the protocol, Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee was also to be present at the event. However, she did not participate which raised many questions.
PM Modi's keynote address at the event was attended by Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal, Governor Jagdeep Dhanhar. However, Mamata Banerjee, CM of Bengal, did not participate in it. She was invited on December 4 to attend the event, which was sent by the Vice-Chancellor of the university. Mamata was urged to visit Vishwa Bharati University's Centenary programme as a special guest.
While the university administration is claiming that the invitation was sent to the Chief Minister of Bengal, the Trinamool Congress, on the other hand, says Mamata Banerjee has not received any invitation. However, Mamata Banerjee is also going to hold a press dialogue on Thursday.
