Kolkata: Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo and Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee have sat on a sit-in in Kolkata against the decision of the Election Commission. She says that the Election Commission is acting at the behest of the central government. The manner in which they have been prevented from campaigning is sufficient to state in themselves that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has become despondent. DMK's MK Stalin also came out in support of Mamata Banerjee and said what kind of Nazir the Election Commission is presenting.

The Election Commission has imposed a 24-hour ban on TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee for campaigning in any way from 8 pm on 12 April to 8 pm on 13 April. In fact, recently the Election Commission sent notice to Mamata Banerjee for one of her statements. During the election rally in Hooghly, Mamata Banerjee was sent a notice for allegedly appealing to the voters on communal grounds.

In support of CM Mamata Banerjee, other parties are also singing the raga. Shiv Sena spokesperson Sanjay Raut says that the way the current government is putting pressure on constitutional institutions is not an auspicious sign in itself. The question is that when the institutions start working in this way, people's trust will be lost. Whatever is happening in Bengal today, an attempt is being made to suppress the voice of the free and just.
