Kolkata: Political mercury is climbing ahead of assembly elections in West Bengal. Meanwhile, Mamata Banerjee's party Trinamool Congress (TMC) can bring a censure motion in the assembly today with the slogan 'Jai Shri Ram ' in a function held on the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. In the official programme earlier, the slogans of Jai Shri Ram were raised when Mamata Banerjee came to the stage in the presence of PM Modi, which made Mamata Banerjee angry.
It is now feared that a censure motion can be brought against it in the Bengal assembly today. However, the Congress and the CPI (M) have made it clear that they will not support the censure motion. According to media reports, the Congress and the CPI (M) said on Wednesday that they will not support the censure motion to be brought to the Assembly by the ruling TMC against the imposition of 'Jai Shri Ram' slogan in an official event held on the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.
The leaders of both the parties said that if the proposal is brought, both the parties will not support it unless CM Mamata Banerjee himself ensures the respect of the Constitution and the opposition in the state. The TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee refused to address the function in the presence of PM Modi on January 23 after the slogan ' Jai Shri Ram ' was held on the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. In the meantime, the Congress, while supporting Mamata Banerjee, said that such sloganeering is an insult to the Chief Minister, while the CPI (M) termed it as derogatory to the state.
