Kolkata: In West Bengal today, a protest will be organized against the central government across the state (National Register of Citizens) NRC. Leaders of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) party led by CM Mamta Banerjee will protest. Earlier, regarding NRC, Mamta said that due to NRC, there is an atmosphere of fear in Bengal. Mamta has also met PM Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah in this matter.

TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee had earlier on Thursday asked her party to carry out a massive campaign against the NRC. He had said that his party does not discriminate in the name of caste or religion. Without naming the BJP, he has said that those who are taking refuge in India from Bangladesh will be granted citizenship after amending the Citizenship Amendment Bill.

West Bengal CM Mamta Banerjee has always been opposed to the NRC. She says that it should be remembered that those who have come as refugees from East Bengal (now Bangladesh) are citizens of our country. Banerjee has said that how many times a person has to prove his citizenship and how many times he has to get the identity card.
