Kolkata: West Bengal CM Mamta Banerjee on Friday appealed to all the people of the society to raise a public movement against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). Mamta Banerjee said these things while addressing a gathering in Kolkata. CM Mamata Banerjee took to the road for the fifth consecutive day against the CAA and protested strongly against it.

Mamta Banerjee said, 'We have to fight against the National Civil Registrar (NRC) and CAA. We have to perform against it all over the country and we will succeed in it. Bengal has always led the performance. The government got the bill passed at midnight and they did the same to form the government in Maharashtra. Mamta Banerjee said, 'The Central Government did not even take the time to discuss the CAA. It was an important bill and these people passed it at midnight. These people are misusing the majority in the Lok Sabha. If CAA was so good then why didn't PM Modi vote in its favor?

Mamta Banerjee said, 'The Prime Minister was present in the Parliament, but still he did not vote. This means that if he was not supporting this bill, then it should be withdrawn. Modi government brought this bill so that the news of increase in onion prices, shutdown of industries and collapse of economic system can be suppressed.
