Kolkata: West Bengal's Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee, commenced her journey to Madrid, Spain, on Tuesday, where she will be participating in a three-day business summit. Before boarding her flight, CM Mamata Banerjee expressed her anticipation, stating, "It's been five years since we last visited Spain. Spain was a valued partner during the Kolkata Book Fair, known for its thriving manufacturing sector. We're traveling at their invitation, and we're eager to explore opportunities for progress."

The Bengal Business Summit is scheduled to take place from November 21 to 23. Mamata Banerjee highlighted the importance of reciprocation, saying, "Spanish officials have visited Bengal on numerous occasions, but we haven't returned the favor in the same measure. Hence, I am headed to Spain. Additionally, we have a business summit planned in Dubai."

The Chief Minister expressed optimism about the outcomes that may arise from the business summit in Spain. In related news, CM Banerjee announced on Monday that Dhupguri town in Jalpaiguri district will be granted subdivision status by the end of 2023. This announcement follows the recent victory of Trinamool Congress candidate Nirmal Chandra Roy in the Dhupguri assembly bypolls. Roy secured victory over Bharatiya Janata Party's Tapasi Roy by a close margin of 4,309 votes, with Roy garnering 97,613 votes and the BJP candidate receiving 93,304 votes. The CPI-M also contested the seat and finished a distant third.
