Mamata arrives late for Cyclone Yaas review meet with PM Modi

Kolkata: PM Narendra Modi arrived in West Midnapore in Bengal on Friday to assess the damage caused by cyclone Yaas. CM Mamata Banerjee arrived here 30 minutes late at a review meeting on the damage caused by 'Yaas'. Sources say Mamata Banerjee and the Bengal Chief Secretary arrived 30 minutes late in the meeting. As soon as she reached the meeting, Mamata Banerjee handed over the papers on the situation in Cyclone Yaas and mamata banerjee left the meeting citing the second meeting. The review meeting was held at Laikunda Air Base.

According to sources, Mamata Banerjee said she had to attend some meetings. Mamata Banerjee's stand could once again escalate the confrontation between the ruling party at the Centre and the TSM. The meeting was attended by State Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar throughout the day. Talking to reporters after the meeting, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that the Chief Secretary of the state has submitted a report to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the damage caused by cyclone Yaass in the state. On arriving late and leaving prime minister Narendra Modi's meeting immediately, Mamata Banerjee later clarified that she was not aware of it.

Earlier, Mamata Banerjee had said that she would hold a meeting with PM Narendra Modi to review the devastation caused by cyclone Yaaswhen when he visits the state. Banerjee said the meeting will be held at Kalaikunda in west Midnapore district on Friday. Talking to reporters at the State Secretariat, he said, PM Narendra Modi will come here after surveying the storm affected areas of Odisha.
