SURAT: A small-time street vendor in Surat, Gujarat, has been arrested for killing a man after a fight over money, police said.

Later, the vendor's brother and father helped get rid of the man's body, but CCTV camera caught the former in abandoning the body.  Within a few hours, the Surat Crime Branch solved the case and arrested all three suspects.

The officer at the Crime Branch police station said that the local police were told on Wednesday that several people came in a Bolero car and left a man's body on the service road near the Aai Mata circle in the Puna area.

The local police and a representative from the crime branch went to the scene. During their investigation, they looked at CCTV footage and found that the three suspects were the older son Sunil Devipujak, the father Chandu Devipujak, and a young child.

During the first interview, Chandu's young son told police that he was selling apples on Tuesday night when a man named Mahipal Aahir bought some from him. After Mahipal Aahir paid for the apples, he and Chandu's son got into a fight over the money.

In a fit of anger, the minor hit Aahir on the head with a piece of wood. Aahir fell to the ground, bleeding. The three suspects took the victim to a private hospital, but the doctor wouldn't let him in, saying that it was a crime and that the police should be called or that the victim should go to a government hospital.

Chandu and his older son Sunil didn't want to get in trouble with the police, so they left Aahir's body on the road.

The child was arrested under the Juvenile Justice Act, and the Juvenile Justice Board will hear the case, the Crime branch officer said.
