Man killed wife smashing her with pestle

DHAR: In a gruesome act, one person killed his wife by smashing a pestle on her head when she was sleeping. The incident occurred here Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh on the wee hours of Thursday.

The victim mother of three was identified as Patalbai, 34, wife of Kailash Sobhan, resident of Ambedkar Colony in Tanda village of Dhar. Police later arrested Kailash and booked him for murder.

According police, accused took an extreme step, after victim refused to give money to Kailash for buying liquor, following which her husband smashed her with pestle. Patalbai died the instant she was hit by the pestle. Kailash fled the spot even as their eldest daughter Bhuri raised an alarm.

Patalbai's 6-year-old son was sleeping with her and their two daughters were sleeping in an adjacent cot, they said, adding, the children woke up hearing the thud of the pestle hitting their mother.
