BULANDSHAHR: An drunken man killed a one-and-a-half-year-old child by hacking him to death in the village of Saujhana Jhaya in this area.
The accused, known as Kaju, alais Kishanpal, brought the kid to a cane pitch as he was outside playing and then hacked him to death.
When the family members of the minor started looking for the child, they found his body in the field and spotted the accused at some distance.
When the locals tried to stop him, the accused stabbed them with a knife.
Bulandshahr's Superintendent of Police (SP), said that Surendra Nath Tiwari, Kishanpal was beaten by the villagers before police arrived and took him to the local hospital.
"On the basis of the complaint filed by the child's family members, a case has been lodged under section 302 (murder) against the accused. However, he succumbed during treatment on Thursday," said SP.
After a post-mortem, the body of the minor was given to the family, police said.
The body of the accused has been sent for post-mortem and his family informed, the police official said.
