New Delhi:  Delhi police said to have solved a 6-month-old murder case, and detained a man for allegedly killing his 28-year-old live-in partner, cutting her body into 35 pieces, and disposing itsparts at different places in and around the national capital.

Officials said that the dead Shraddha, 28, and the accused, Aftab, met while working at a call centre in Mumbai.
When their families refused to acknowledge their relationship, the pair moved to Delhi and began living in a rented apartment in the Chhatarpur area, Mehrauli police said. They met while working in Mumbai and fell in love while there.
According to police, the accused killed her after she began pressuring him into marriage.

After a fight on May 18, the accused choked the victim out of rage. They claimed that he then cut her body into 35 parts, bought a refrigerator, and kept the fragments inside.

The officials said, the suspects began dumping the body parts at various spots in and around Delhi over the course of the following 18 days during the night. When the victim stopped communicating with her parents, the situation became apparent. Her family also looked at her social media accounts, but there had been no recent posts.

This raised suspicion, after which her father Vikas, a native of Palghar (Maharashtra), became suspicious and reached Delhi to check on his daughter. He found her apartment locked when he got there.

After that, he went to the police and reported a missing person. Also, he informed the authorities of his daughter's friendship with the accused, Aftab, and their possible connection to his daughter's disappearance.

In response to his complaint, the police opened an inquiry, located Aftab, and detained him. He admitted to the crime while being questioned and claimed that they frequently quarreled because Shraddha was pressuring him to be married.

The accused has a case filed against them under the appropriate sections of the IPC, including murder, and the police were further looking after the case.
