NEW DELHI: The Indian government has been working with the States and Union territories to build a multi-tiered health infrastructure network across the nation in the spirit of cooperative and collaborative federalism.
To review the implementation of flagship programmes such as the National Health Mission (NHM), various projects under the Emergency COVID Response Package (ECRP)-II, the Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM), and 15th Finance Commission (XV FC) grants, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya made this statement today while interacting virtually with State Health Ministers of States/UTs.
The health minister also reviewed the development of the national COVID19 immunization campaign, paying special focus to the precautionary dose under the COVID Vaccination Amrit Mahotsav. The meeting also included Dr. Bharati Pravin Pawar, Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare.
This was one of several meetings led by the health minister to assess progress and speed up the use of federal funds provided to states through various programmes and packages for the upgrading and strengthening of critical care infrastructure nationwide.
The State Health Ministers were advised by Dr. Mandaviya to personally review the funds' utilisation on a regular basis and make sure that no funds are left unused. He also urged the States to regularly update the Union Health Ministry portal with information about the development of health infrastructure programmes in terms of both physical and monetary terms.
