New Delhi: Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Tuesday lauded the development of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission in boosting the digital healthcare ecosystem across the country and said that more than 23.08-crore Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) numbers have been generated. "Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission is transforming the lives of people by strengthening the digital healthcare ecosystem across the country Mansukh Mandaviya today.

The Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) seeks to create the framework required to sustain the nation's integrated digital health infrastructure. Through digital highways, it would close the distance between the various healthcare ecosystem stakeholders.

On February 26, 2022, the Union Cabinet, presided over by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved the nationwide deployment of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), a five-year, Rs 1,600 crore Central Sector Scheme of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission will be implemented by the National Health Authority
With CoWIN, Arogya Setu, and e-Sanjeevani serving as more examples of the role technology can play in providing access to healthcare, digital health solutions across the healthcare ecosystem have demonstrated their enormous value over time. For the continuum of care and efficient resource use, these solutions must be integrated, though.

The Jan Dhan, Aadhaar, and Mobile (JAM) trinity and other government digital initiatives laid the groundwork for the creation of a seamless online platform that the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) is building upon by offering a wide range of data, information, and infrastructure services while appropriately leveraging open, interoperable, standards-based digital systems and ensuring the security, confidentiality, and privacy of health-related personal information.

To link their digital health records to their Ayushman Bharat Health Account numbers, residents would be able to do so through the ABDM. This will make it possible to compile longitudinal health records for patients across different healthcare systems and enhance clinical judgement on the part of healthcare professionals. The mission will increase everyone's access to high-quality healthcare by promoting the use of telemedicine and other technology and by making health services portable across national borders, the ministry said.
