New Delhi: In a significant development, BS Yediyurappa, the senior BJP leader, said that Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and party General Secretary Vinod Tawade have been appointed as central observers. Their primary task is to oversee the election process of the Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Karnataka state assembly.

Late Sunday night, Yediyurappa informed reporters that the central party leaders had entrusted the responsibility of selecting the LoP to Vinod Tawade and Mansukh Mandaviya, who will soon travel to Bengaluru for this purpose. During their visit, the duo will diligently gather opinions from all the BJP legislators in Karnataka. They will then compile a comprehensive report, which will be submitted to the central leadership.

Yediyurappa emphasized that the final decision regarding the appointment of the LoP in the state assembly would be made by the central leadership after careful consideration of the report submitted by the central observers. Additionally, the observers will also seek the viewpoints of Karnataka party legislators concerning the selection of the Karnataka BJP President.

The former Karnataka chief minister recently visited New Delhi, where he held discussions with National BJP President JP Nadda and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The meetings aimed to address several state-related matters, including the election of the LoP and the appointment of the state BJP president.

Yediyurappa stated that if necessary, he would be summoned again to New Delhi by Amit Shah. He expressed confidence that the central leadership would take into account the prevailing political conditions in the state before making any decisions.
