Sitapur: The brutal beating of a dog with sticks in Sitapur district of Uttar Pradesh came to a halt when BJP MP Maneka Gandhi called the inspector to take action against the youth and admonished him. Maneka Gandhi, while talking to the inspector, also said that 'Send the youth who killed the dog to jail and first beat him on my behalf'

Maneka asked the inspector to get whatever money was invested in the treatment of the dog from the accused youth. The audio of the MP and inspector's conversation has now gone viral on social media by Sitapur Animal Services Committee Chairman Vijay Seth. Police have registered a case on the complaint of the Animal Services Committee and launched a hunt for the accused. The incident came to light from Gwal Mandi area of kotwali area of the city. A dog jumping outside the house here on June 18 was brutally beaten up by Ramesh Verma, a resident here. The incident of beating the dog was captured in a CCTV there and the video went viral on social media a few days later.

When Vijay Seth, head of the Animal Services Committee of Sitapur, was reported to have beaten up the dog, he admitted the dog to the district veterinary hospital for treatment where doctors reported his leg breaking and started treatment. When the matter reached BJP MP to Sultanpur Maneka Gandhi by the Animal Services Committee, she ordered strict action against the accused.
