After the success of Chekka Chivantha Vaanam, there were reports that acclaimed director Mani Ratnam is reviving his dream project Ponniyin Selvan, which will be bankrolled by Lyca Productions. He has already finalized actors like Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Keerthy Suresh and Karthi for the project.

Earlier, it was said that Lyca Productions backed out of the project due to budget constraints. Now, Mani Ratnam is apparently in talks with Reliance Entertainment to bankroll his film. The latest rumor is that Amala Paul has been roped in for Ponniyin Selvan. A source close to the team says, “Amala Paul met Mani Ratnam recently and has agreed to be a part of this project. However, she is yet to sign on the official agreement.”

According to a Tamil daily, Amala Paul has bagged a vital role in the film, which will be made in multiple languages. However, Mani Ratnam is tight-lipped, as always, about this film too.

His last film Chekka Chivantha Vaanam, a multi-starrer, turned out to be a huge hit.  Ponniyin Selvan is the epic novel written by Amarar Kalki, a popular fiction writer in Tamil. The story is about king Raja Raja Cholan. The film had Arvind Swami, Arun Vijay, Simbu and Vijay Sethupathi in the lead roles.
