Imphal: In Manipur, Congress has been increasing the demand for the resignation of CM N Biren Singh on moral grounds in the case of the smuggling of Intoxicants. Congress Legislature Party leader Okram Ibobi Singh, while addressing a media conference, has requested the CBI to investigate the matter as soon as possible. As for this, he said, "The news has been released by the local dailies on the drug scam. In the earlier assembly sessions, we have brought out the involvement of high profile family in the drug seizure issue on behalf of the Congress. We are on moral grounds. There is a demand for the resignation of CM N. Biren Singh and also a handover of the drug case to a neutral agency like CBI. We demand an immediate investigation. "

Former CM Okram Ibobi Singh has told that after the Narcotics and Affairs of Border, SP, Thunaojam Brinda, he cannot be trusted with the state's police and its companies. He further stated that he was allegedly made a pressor by the CM's close aide and top police officers over drug kingpin Lukhosi Xu. Lukhosi Xu was detained on the issue of drug smuggling and the court has granted him bail for three weeks.

He further said, "Are they going to hand over the case to those people who have asked to withdraw the charge sheet? The government should clarify who is going to investigate the matter."
