In Manipur, polling is being held today in Imphal East, Imphal West, Bishanpur, Churachandpur and Kangpokpi districts. 173 candidates, including 15 women, are trying their luck in these seats. In such a situation, in the first phase of assembly elections today, chief minister N. Biren Singh casts his vote in Imphal. "Yes and after casting his vote, he said, "I hope that 75 per cent of the people of my constituency will vote for the BJP and me. The BJP is expecting at least 30 of the 38 seats in the first phase.''
With this, Manipur Governor La Ganesan cast his vote at a polling station in Imphal. During this, the Governor told the people after casting his vote, "I appeal to the people of Manipur to exercise their franchise because democracy is prevalent in our country and the election is the symbol of democracy. In the first phase of Manipur Assembly elections, 8.94% polling was recorded till 9:30 am, while 27.34% polling has been recorded till 11 am.''
Meanwhile, Manipur Deputy CM and NPP candidate from Uripauk, Yamanam Joykumar Singh, cast his vote at an upper primary school in Imphal. Apart from him, Manipur Minister Biswajit Singh cast his vote in Imphal. The prominent candidates in this phase are- CM N Biren Singh from Hingang, Speaker Y. Khemchand Singh from Singjamei, Deputy CM Yumnam Joykumar Singh from Uripok and State Congress Chief N Lokesh Singh from Nambol.
