IMPHAL: In a demonstration of solidarity, Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey paid a visit to a relief camp situated in the Imphal-East district, engaging with the inmates to address their concerns. Within the camp, a total of 269 individuals seek refuge. The Governor assured them of comprehensive assistance, emphasizing the commitment to extend any possible support.
With unwavering determination, Ms. Uikey has already instructed the State government to facilitate skill training, recognizing the immediate need to reinstate normalcy in the violence-stricken region. In her pursuit of harmony, she emphasizes the significance of engaging in constructive dialogues with all relevant parties involved. Displaying the firm resolve to ensure the safety of Manipur, the Governor highlights the deployment of 60,000 Central security forces personnel across the state, resulting in the successful recovery of illegal arms and ammunition, as well as the demolition of numerous bunkers.
As an advocate for peace, the Governor vehemently condemns all forms of violence, recognizing their futility in offering viable solutions. She firmly believes that the path to an amicable resolution lies solely in meaningful dialogues, urging all stakeholders to step forward and engage in constructive talks.
Meanwhile, authorities released a statement confirming the destruction of six bunkers in different regions of Manipur. Despite isolated reports of gunshots, the overall situation remains under control. To facilitate the smooth flow of essential supplies, 123 checkpoints have been established along the highway, with armed convoys arranged for the safe passage of trucks transporting food and vital commodities into Manipur.
Unverified accounts suggest the unfortunate loss of three Kuki militants' lives, while a Meitei activist sustained injuries during an exchange of gunfire. Additionally, unidentified individuals perpetrated acts of vandalism at a branch of the Manipur State cooperative bank.
