New Delhi: On the final day of its two-day session, the Delhi Legislative Assembly is set to deliberate on the matter concerning Manipur. As per the scheduled legislative agenda for Thursday, legislators Durgesh Pathak, Vinay Mishra, and Kuldeep Kumar are expected to introduce a concise discussion regarding the disruptions in Manipur and the hardships faced by its residents.

Earlier, Saurabh Bharadwaj, a leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and a Delhi Minister expressed his disappointment on August 11th that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had not visited Manipur or taken any significant action to address the situation. Bharadwaj criticized the fact that during instances of violence in Manipur, PM Modi chose to embark on foreign tours. Similarly, when floods affected Delhi and northern India, he prioritized foreign tours over domestic concerns. Despite having conducted election rallies across several states, PM Modi did not extend his presence to Manipur. This lack of attention from the Prime Minister was deemed unfortunate by Bharadwaj.

Conversely, during his Independence Day speech from the Red Fort, Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealed for peace in strife-ridden Manipur. He acknowledged the solidarity of the entire nation with the people of the northeastern state. Emphasizing that peace is the sole resolution for all conflicts, PM Modi noted that both the central government and the Manipur administration are diligently working to restore peace in the state.

Regrettably, the violence in the northeastern state has resulted in the loss of over 100 lives and the displacement of thousands more. A video from Manipur went viral, depicting two women reportedly being paraded naked. This video has ignited verbal disputes and sparked concerns over the ongoing situation in Manipur, particularly amidst the ethnic clashes that have persisted since May 4th.
