Imphal: Corona cases are continuously increaing in the northeastern states. Manipur reported 339 corona cases from the general population and 6 personnel from the Central Armed Police Force. The state reported three more deaths due to COVID19 infections in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative number of deaths in the state to 127. The cumulative number of positive cases is 16,621 while the numbers of active and recovered cases are 4,101 and 12,393 respectively. The recovery rate is 74.56%,
The new COVID19 positive cases were confirmed at 24 testing facilities in the state. The cases from the general population are from Imphal West(154), Imphal East (71), Thoubal (31), Jiribam (1), Ukhrul (2), Chandel(4), Kakching (1), Tamenglong (25), Churachandpur (17), Tengnoupal (4), Senapati (6) and Bishnupur (23) districts. Seven are returnees while the rest are locals without any significant travel history, it said adding they are being shifted to the COVID care facilities. 196 persons were discharged from 17 COVID care facilities in last 24 hours.
Another northeastern state Nagaland is also facing burnt of corona pandemic. state's corona tally rose to 8,296 with the detection of 157 positive cases on Thursday. There are total 8,296 positive cases, 3,699 cases are from the armed forces/ police, 1,625 returnees, 2,575 traced contacts and 397 frontline workers.
