New Delhi: The monsoon session of Parliament has begun amid the corona epidemic. During the monsoon session, MPs are required to attend the proceedings of the House following several rules. Meanwhile, several MPs have decided not to come to the monsoon session. Several veteran Rajya Sabha MPs including former PM Manmohan Singh, former Union Minister P Chidambaram have taken leave from the House at medical grounds.

According to media reports, Rajya Sabha Speaker Venkaiah Naidu on Wednesday briefed the House on the matter. Venkaiah Naidu told the House that a total of 13 MPs, including former PM Manmohan Singh, have written letters seeking leave at medical grounds.  The MPs include former PM Manmohan Singh besides former Union Minister P Chidambaram, PMK leader A Ramadoss, Congress leader Oscar Fernandes, AIADMK's A Navneet Krishnan, YSR Congress' Parimal Nathwani. Besides these, 7 other MPs including Sushil Kumar Gupta of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) have also taken leave.

According to Naidu, all MPs, apart from Narendra Jadhav, Banda Prakash, Navneetkrishnan, have taken leave from the entire monsoon session. While these three MPs have taken a few days off. After reading the letter, Venkaiah Naidu has approved the leave of all MPs. The period of parliament session in the Corona period has been kept from September 14 to October 1. The proceedings of the House will continue without any leave. According to the rules of the House, it is mandatory to inform the Rajya Sabha Chairman if an MP has to take leave for a long time.
