NEW DELHI: Manasi Josh, clinched the gold in women’s singles SL3 final defeating World No. 1 and compatriot Parul Parmar 21-12, 21-7 to pick her maiden title in Para World badminton championship at the same venue where the big guns like Sindhu, Kento Momota are all in action. Mansi lost his left leg in an accident in 2011. Eight years later, she defeated three-time world champion Parmar in the final.
Mansi trains at Gopichand Academy. India won a total of 14 medals in the tournament, including three gold and three silver medals. The Paralympic Committee of India has congratulated Mansi Joshi for the victory. On the other hand, Pramod Bhagat and Manoj Sarkar won the gold medal after beating India's Nitesh Kumar and Tarun Dhillon 14-21, 21-15, 21-16 in the final of the Men's Doubles SL 3-4 category. This is Bhagat's second gold medal in this championship. Earlier, he had won the men's doubles SL 3-4.
On Sunday, Pramod Bhagat defeated England's Daniel Bethel 6-21, 21-14, 21-5 in the final of the men's singles SL 3 to win the gold medal while Tarun Kona suffered a defeat by France's Lucas Mazur in the men's singles SL 4 final.
