New Delhi: Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya emphasized the crucial role of "Lok Bhagidari" or people's participation in eradicating Tuberculosis (TB) from India. He expressed that such involvement could significantly contribute to making India TB-free.

"The active participation of the people, known as Lok Bhagidari, is an essential endeavor in eliminating the burden of Tuberculosis in our country. I urge individuals to step forward and become Nikshay Mitras, as this can greatly contribute to our goal of a TB-free India," Mandaviya stated.

These remarks were made by Minister Mandaviya during his chairmanship of the inaugural day of the two-day Swasthya Chintan Shivir, held in Dehradun, Uttarakhand.

Highlighting India's approach to healthcare, Minister Mandaviya, referring to the Ministry of Health, urged states to prioritize TB elimination and provide it with added momentum. He also called upon states to facilitate the issuance of disability certificates, thereby supporting the divyang population of the country.

Mandaviya emphasized the need for comprehensive and widespread coverage of all healthcare schemes, ensuring that no eligible beneficiary is left behind. He expressed his hope that the Chintan Shivir would generate valuable suggestions on strengthening existing healthcare facilities and implementing new interventions across the country.

Regarding the Swasthya Chintan Shivir, Minister Mandaviya envisioned it as a platform to bring us closer to the idea of achieving last-mile connectivity in healthcare. He added, "Over the last two days, we have gained an in-depth understanding of India's healthcare sector today and identified the path we should pursue to ensure universal health coverage."

Dr. VK Paul, Member (Health) of NITI Aayog, remarked that the past two days had witnessed the creation of a holistic paradigm for healthcare, incorporating input from all participants. He emphasized the importance of translating the resolutions passed during the event into actionable measures to achieve the set goals by the following year.

On the final day of the two-day event, various sessions focused on different aspects of healthcare in India. Topics covered included Ayushman Bhava, the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme, Measles and Rubella Elimination, and the PCPNDT Act.

During the first day of the event, sessions explored various dimensions of Ayushman Bharat, encompassing Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY), Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), Health and Wellness Centres, and Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM).

This national conclave served as a platform for sharing best practices and exchanging knowledge among states regarding healthcare in India today. Deliberations centered around the implementation of PM-JAY, ABDM, addressing gaps specific to local conditions across states, and promoting digital health literacy in the country.
