Ace Indian shooter Manu Bhaker clinched the women's 25 pistol title on the opening day of the National Rifle/Pistol Selection Trials (3&4) here on Thursday. Other winners on the day included Arjun Babuta (men's 10m air rifle) and Aashi Choksi (women's 50m rifle, 3 positions). These trials are very important in view of the selection of the Indian team for important competitions like the World Championship and the Asian Games.
Junior shooters are also striving to make it onto the Junior World and Junior World Championship teams. Manu Bhaker clinched the title by defeating local favourite Chinki Yadav 31-29 in the gold medal match. She has also won the bronze medal at the World Cup at the Madhya Pradesh State Shooting Academy. Rhythm Sangwan also won the bronze medal by defeating Neha in the shoot-off.
In the men's 10-metre air rifle T3 event, Punjab's Babuta defeated Railway's Akhil Sheoran 16-6 in the gold medal match. Both have reached the shootout after finishing second in the ranking round. In the women's 50-metre rifle 3-position final, Choksi also defeated Odisha's Shriyanka Sadangi 16-10.
