The five Meghalaya Congress MLAs who recently joined the NPP-led MDA administration in the state have allegedly been 'suspended' by the All India Congress Committee (AICC).

According to sources, Meghalaya Congress head Vincent Pala confirmed the news, adding that the'suspension' will take place "immediately." Show-cause notices were also filed on the five Congress MLAs in Meghalaya, demanding them to explain why they joined the MDA administration in Meghalaya without the AICC's approval.

"If the AICC is satisfied with the responses (to the show-cause notices), no action will be taken against the five party legislators." If the responses are unacceptable, they might be expelled," Meghalaya Congress chairman Vincent Pala warned the reporters.

However, PT Sawkmie and the other four MLAs claim that they have yet to receive a suspension or show-cause notice from the AICC. "The AICC has not issued any suspension or show-cause notices to us." "When we get it, we'll definitely respond," Sawkmie added.

Meanwhile, the five Congress MLAs have indicated that there is "no turning back" on their decision to join the MDA government, stating that they are "committed." Ampareen Lyngdoh, Mayralborn Syiem, Mohendro Rapsang, Kimfa Marbaniang, and PT Sawkmie are the five Congress MLAs of Meghalaya who have pledged their support to the government.

"It's not just happening in Meghalaya; it's also happening in Manipur," he added. The NPP has been taking advantage of the rift within the Congress party."

Mukul Sangma, the former chief minister of Meghalaya and a TMC politician, has remarked that the five Congress MLAs joining the NPP-led MDA government in the state is "not surprising." Since Shillong MP Vincent Pala took over as Meghalaya Congress chairman, Mukul Sangma stated the NPP (National People's Party) had been in contact with Congress lawmakers.

"Whatever development we've seen has been expected. This was a foregone conclusion for us. "After Vincent Pala became the PCC president, there were backstage parleys," Mukul Sangma said.
