Actor-writer Neeraj Vora, who passed away at the age of 54, has been bid a fond farewell by his friends and colleagues on Twitter. Neeraj, best known for scripting the first part of Rohit Shetty's Golmaal, died after his multiple organs failed. The actor had slipped into coma after suffering a heart attack and brain stroke last year.
After the attack, Neeraj was shifted to friend, filmmaker Sajid Nadiadwala’s Mumbai residence where a room was converted into an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for his speedy recovery. His condition, however, deteriorated during the past week as he was kept in the ventilator for four days. On social media, Neeraj Vora is being mourned with respect as Prime Minister Narendra Modi and celebrities including, actors Akshay Kumar, Tusshar Kapoor, Amrita Rao, Paresh Rawal and Shama Sikander, and filmmakers Ashutosh Gowariker, Madhur Bhandarkar and Ashoke Pandit flooded Twitter with messages of grief.
Neeraj Vora is celebrated for writing Aamir Khan’s superhit Rangeela. He made his debut as a director with Khiladi 420, starring Akshay Kumar. He also featured in films such as Jung, Pukar, Mast, Satya, Mann, Daud, Department, Tezz, Company and Bol Bachchan. Neeraj also did television shows such as Choti Badi Baatien and Circus.
His 1992 Gujarati play Aflatoon was adapted by Rohit Shetty for Golmaal. He, in fact, was supposed to begin work on Phir Hera Pheri 3 but the film was repeatedly postponed owing to his ill health. He was last seen in 2015's Welcome Back.
