Guwahati: Seven memorabilia, including a hat, shoes and a doll, were recovered during a raid on the house of Wajid Hussain, who was caught from Sivasagar district of Assam, in connection with the theft of a limited edition watch of star footballer Diego Maradona from Dubai. Police said on Sunday that it is being ascertained whether the goods found belonged to the late Argentine footballer.

Special DGP GP Singh tweeted that the Hublot watch and many memorabilia of the late Diego Maradona were found. These include jackets, track pants, T-shirts, shoes, dolls, squash rackets, watches, lighters, hats and iPads. He said the original location of the luggage is being ascertained. Sivasagar police said on their Twitter account that a search was conducted at the accused's house on Saturday night. The tweet said it is being ascertained how many of those things are related to Maradona.

Assam DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta had said on Saturday that the accused, who worked as a security guard in a Dubai company that preserves Maradona's goods, was arrested on Saturday for stealing a Hublot watch with a limited edition of the late footballer from Sivasagar. He said that after working in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for a few days, the accused took leave to return to Assam in August saying that his father was ill.
