Mariah Carey is apologising for her remarks after they caused a stir online. The renowned singer previously referred to the Duchess as a "diva" and talked about how the Suits alum has given the public some wonderful diva moments while stopping by Meghan Markle's podcast. Meghan expressed her surprise after hearing her remarks. Carey is now defending herself in a tweet.

Mariah took her time to emphasise that her statements were meant to be "empowering" after saying how much she had "truly liked" her time on the podcast with Meghan. According to Page Six, Carey wrote as she addressed the embarrassing situation, "Yes! I called her a diva, in the most fabulous, gorgeous, and empowering meaning of the word!!!" The musician made news earlier in the week for referring to Meghan as a diva, which caused the Duchess of Sussex to tremble and perspire.

Meghan questioned the performer on the Archetypes episode, "What kind of diva moments did I offer you?" Later, when the show was being wrapped up, Meghan made note of her "nervous laughter.", saying that Carey "jumped right in to make sure I was crystal clear that when she said diva, she was talking about the way I dress, the posture, the clothing." The whole misunderstanding started when Meghan believed Mariah had referred to her as a "diva" in a derogatory manner and had used the term as a "dig" rather than a compliment. Meghan was rather flustered at the time due to the misunderstanding, and after it was over, she even acknowledged her own embarrassment. She did, however, mention how Carey carefully explained her intentions after swiftly realising that her remarks had been misunderstood and that she had spoken inadvertently.
