After the slowdown in the auto market, the festive season saw a boom. Meanwhile, sales of the country's largest car company Maruti Suzuki increased after the last 7 months. Increase in sales of Maruti Suzuki means a lot because Maruti is the dominant car market in almost 50 percent of the country. Sales of the company's mini cars, including Alto, Wagon R and S-Preso, were down by 13.1 percent to 28,537 vehicles during this period. A year ago in October, the figure stood at 32,835 units. Similarly, the company's sales in the compact vehicle segment including Swift, Celerio, Ignis, Baleno and Dzire increased by 15.9 percent to 75,094 units from 64,789 units in October 2018.

During October 2019, Maruti Suzuki sales grew 4.5 percent in the domestic market. In October 2019, Maruti Suzuki sold 1,44,277 cars while in October 2018, the company sold 1,38,100 cars. In October 2019, sales of the company's passenger cars also increased by 4.4 percent. Overall, the country's automobile industry is relieved during the festive season.

Sales of Ashok Leyland fell 35 percent in October, while the total sales of commercial vehicles of Hinduja Group company Ashok Leyland fell by 35 percent to 9,857 vehicles in October. The company sold 15,149 vehicles in the same month a year ago. During this period, the company's medium and heavy commercial vehicle sales fell 50 percent to 4,565 vehicles. The figure was 9,062 units in the same month a year ago. At the same time, sales of light commercial vehicles in the domestic market fell by 15 percent to 4,509 units from 5,279 units in October 2018.
