Maruti Suzuki company sold zero cars in April 2020

India's leading automobile manufacturer Maruti Suzuki India Limited has sold 0 vehicles in the domestic market during April 2020. According to the company, not a single vehicle has been sold in the domestic market last month because all production facilities were shut down after the government's decision to lockdown. This decline in sales of the company is a direct result of a coronavirus outbreak, which took a toll on sales before lockdown when people were advised to maintain social distance.

The government has partially allowed Maruti Suzuki to resume operations in Gujarat and Maruti Suzuki has been successful in exporting 632 vehicles from Mundra Port. Apart from this, Maruti Suzuki has resumed partially operational single shift at its Manesar plant in Haryana. It will also follow the new guidelines issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs which allows private industry and industrial establishments to operate in rural areas from April 20, but it is mandatory to follow certain guidelines. There are 4,696 people working in the Manesar plant and manufacturing 50 vehicles.

Maruti Suzuki suspended sales and production on 22 March, at which time the curfew was imposed in the country. In the month of March also, Maruti Suzuki registered a decline of 47 percent in total sales, which was only 21 days of sales. During this period, the company sold 83,792 vehicles, compared to 158,076 units in the same month last year.
