Lahore: Maryam Nawaz, daughter of former Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif, has filed a petition in the Lahore High Court (LHC) demanding her name to be removed from the Exit Control List (ECL). According to Dawn News, the leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), in her petition filed on Saturday, argued that her name was inserted in the ECL without any information and she was sent on August 20, 2018, through a memorandum the opportunity of hearing was provided.

Maryam is currently out on bail in the Chaudhary Sugar Mills (CSM) corruption case, in which she is a suspect, but her name remains on the no-fly list. Her father visited London last month. The government and courts allowed him to go abroad on medical grounds. This comes a day after the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) challenged the Lahore High Court's decision in the Supreme Court to grant bail to Maryam in the CSM case.

Maryam has said in her petition that the memorandum issued on August 20, 2018, was invalid. I am regularly appearing in the courts, so I should be allowed to travel abroad until the final decision on my petition is made.
