The military said in a statement that the accident occurred due to the explosion of a gas tanker kept in the garage of eastern Baghdad. The rest of the case is being investigated further. Residential buildings and football fields were also damaged in the blast. Significantly, this explosion in Iraq happened two days after the formation of the new government. The Iraqi parliament on Thursday (October 27, 2022) gave its approval to the new 21-member cabinet led by PM Mohammed Shia al-Sudani.
