To curb the fast spreading coronavirus in the country, the top medical regulator Medical Council of India (MCI) has sought an updated list of registered medical practitioners from all state medical councils. In order to overcome the Covid-19 epidemic, it has been asked to submit contact details of the practitioners. The top medical regulator has taken this step to increase the capacity by involving hospitals and medical colleges to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection.

In a statement issued by MCI Secretary General, Dr. RK Vats said, "The Medical Council of India has the responsibility to ensure the availability of Registered Medical Practitioners to control the Covid-19 epidemic. You have a request to share the updated list of registered medical practitioners available with the Medical Council."

The list of Registered Medical Practitioner (RMP) will include name, registration number, mobile number, email address, contact address and specialty. This will help in identifying the registered medical practitioners and can be used in the campaign against Corona. It has been said in the advisory that this information should be sent to SECY-MCI et NCI at the earliest. This information will be handed over to government officials for use.
