JAIPUR: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) declared today that Diya Singh and Prem Chand Bairwa will serve as the two Deputy Chief Ministers in Rajasthan. This announcement followed a meeting conducted by the BJP with the recently elected MLAs in the state.

The elevation of Diya Kumari to the esteemed position of Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan has sparked curiosity about her intriguing journey. Hailing from the renowned Jaipur royal family, Kumari ventured into politics by aligning herself with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) back in 2013, a momentous occasion graced by the presence of then Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi during a fervent rally. Her debut in the political arena commenced with a triumphant win in the 2013 Assembly Elections, securing the seat in Sawai Madhopur. However, she abstained from contesting in the subsequent 2018 Assembly Elections.

The enigmatic Diya Kumari, a former Member of Parliament from Rajsamand, traces her lineage to the esteemed ancestry of Jaipur's royal dynasty. She proudly bears the legacy of Man Singh II, the illustrious last ruling Maharaja of the erstwhile princely state of Jaipur.

Kumari's educational journey traversed through distinguished institutions such as the Modern School in New Delhi, GD Somani Memorial School in Mumbai, and the Maharani Gayatri Devi Girls’ Public School in Jaipur. Her academic repertoire includes a Graduate Diploma in Fine Art specializing in Decorative Painting, coupled with an Honorary Doctorate in Philosophy.

Reports reveal Diya Kumari's substantial assets, exceeding Rs 16 crore, positioning her as a prominent figure within the billionaire echelon. Her extensive portfolio encompasses stewardship of various properties, businesses, trusts, and educational institutions. Among the trusts under her purview stand the Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II Museum Trust and the Jaigarh Public Charitable Trust. She oversees the administration of distinguished schools like the Palace School and Maharaja Sawai Bhawani Singh School. Furthermore, her managerial prowess extends to three opulent hotels: Rajmahal Palace and Hotel Lal Mahal Palace in Jaipur, alongside Hotel Jaipur House at Mount Abu.

Embarking on her political odyssey, Diya Kumari embarked upon her BJP journey in 2013, aligning herself with the party at a pivotal rally attended by stalwarts like Narendra Modi, Rajnath Singh, and former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje. Her political fervor manifested in her victorious debut in the 2013 Assembly Elections from the Vidhyadhar Nagar constituency in Jaipur. However, her decision not to contest in the 2018 elections coincided with BJP's setback in that electoral cycle. Subsequently, in 2019, she emerged triumphant as an MP from Rajsamand, securing a staggering 8.58 lakh votes with an impressive victory margin of 5.51 lakh votes.

As Diya Kumari assumes the mantle of Deputy Chief Minister, her ascent within Rajasthan's political landscape adds a new chapter to the intriguing narrative of the state's governance.
