Mr. VK Pandian, a distinguished figure who once served as the private secretary to Odisha's Chief Minister, Naveen Patnaik, now stands on the brink of a more prominent role in the administration. His new appointment as Chairman of the 5T (Transformational Initiatives) and 'Nabin Odisha' not long after opting for voluntary retirement from his civil service career has catapulted him to the status of a Cabinet Minister. This position enables him to work closely under the guidance of CM Patnaik.

Pandian previously led the charge on the Odisha government's 5T governance charter, emphasizing Transparency, Technology, Teamwork, and Time as the catalysts for Transformation. His pivotal role in expediting multiple projects has significantly contributed to the successful implementation of various state initiatives.

Pandian's sphere of influence extends far beyond bureaucratic governance. His involvement in the execution of ambitious projects, such as the Sri Jagannath Heritage Corridor, has been noteworthy. This upcoming venture seeks to construct a 75-meter-wide corridor encircling the ancient Shree Jagannath Temple, thus enhancing its visibility and security. Furthermore, he has been a driving force behind the restoration of ancient temples throughout Odisha.

His rich experience covers diverse facets of governance and social welfare. He undertook an extensive tour of all 147 assembly constituencies in Odisha within a six-month span, engaging with local concerns and evaluating development projects. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Pandian was also observed inspecting the readiness of healthcare facilities.

Prior to his elevated role within Odisha's government, Pandian embarked on a multifaceted career in the civil service. As a 2000-batch IAS officer, he commenced his public service journey as a sub-collector in Dharmagarh and later shouldered the responsibilities of district collector in Mayurbhanj and Ganjam.

His contributions have significantly shaped the Odisha government's flagship program, 'Mo Sarkar,' which amplifies citizen participation in governance. This initiative collects random feedback from citizens to assess the efficiency of public services, effectively holding government officials accountable for their actions.
