Haridwar: Due to Coronavirus, the Uttarakhand government has banned the Kawad Yatra to be held in Haridwar this year. Therefore, travellers will not be able to take water from the Ganges river. If a Kanwariya comes to Haridwar, and he comes in the eyes of the administration, then the administration will keep him in the Quarantine for 14 days and the Kawadiya will have to bear all the expenses. So it would be better not to go to Haridwar this year.

On Wednesday, police and administration officials of Yamunanagar, Karnal in Haryana, Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh, Saharanpur, Bijnor and Haridwar held a meeting and it was determined that no risk could be taken in the corona infection. District Collector of Haridwar C Ravi Shankar said that in order to protect the health of the people, there will be a complete ban on travel. The DM said that it was decided in the meeting that no Kawadiya will be allowed to enter the city, but if a Kawandiya enters the city by train or other means, it will be kept in Quarantine for 14 days at its own expense.

In the annual Kavad Yatra of Haridwar, thousands of devotees every year take water from the river Ganges in Haridwar and offer it to Lord Shiva's temple. This time this trip has been cancelled due to Coronavirus infection.
