Srinagar: Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) supremo Mehbooba Mufti said on Thursday that people will have to start agitation on the lines of farmers in order to regain the special status of the state. They said that they are fighting to get back the lost identity of Jammu and Kashmir. Mehbooba Mufti said this while talking to the media in Baramulla in North Kashmir.

She said that if the government does not restore the earlier situation in the valley, then we will not beg. The PDP is talking of a solution to the Kashmir issue and is seeking to restore the lost special status. We have to fight for this. Referring to the peasants' movement, the Mufti said that we the people of Kashmir will have to carry out a peaceful movement like them. Today the whole world is speaking in support of the farmers' movement. She said that her identity was snatched from Jammu and Kashmir and its people on 5 August 2019. The PDP has only one objective, to resolve the Kashmir issue peacefully and bring back the lost identity.

Mehbooba Mufti further said that the Center is trying to weaken the people of Jammu and Kashmir in a planned manner. First, sections 370 and 35A were removed in an unconstitutional manner here. Now property tax is being imposed on people. All this is being done to financially weaken the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
