Famous footballer Leonel Messi's father arrived in Spain in the early hours of Wednesday and is expected to meet officials of the Barcelona club to discuss his son's future. Lionel Messi's agent George Messi reached Barcelona from Argentina. There is a possibility of meeting with his club president Josep Bartomeu and other officials of the team, but it is not clear when this meeting will take place. In response to questions on the plane, George Messi said, "I don't know anything." 

Lionel Messi told Barcelona last week that he wanted to leave the club. He resorted to the rule of his contract according to which he can leave the club at the end of the season without paying any money. But Barcelona has claimed that this rule expires in June and he will have to complete his current contract by June 2021 or pay 700 million euros (83.7 billion dollars) before leaving the club. 

Barcelona club officials said that they will not let Messi leave the club and will only discuss extending the contract. The club has offered to extend this contract for 2 years. Argentine star footballer can join the team for the year 2022-23.
