Finally, the Met Gala 2023 theme has been made public. The late German fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld will be honoured at the next Met Gala on September 30, the Metropolitan Museum of Art has announced. Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty, the title of the forthcoming annual spring exhibition, will honour the creations of the renowned designer and former creative director of Chanel. According to the rumours, the public is expected to be able to visit the forthcoming exhibition from May 2023 to June 2023.

Director of The Met Max Hollein announced that the Met Gala 2023 will feature an interactive display that will provide the general public with an opportunity to experience a significant portion of Karl Lagerfeld's limitless imagination and enthusiasm. The Met reports that "Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty" will examine the creations of Chanel's former creative director from the 1950s through his final line, which was unveiled in 2019. The 2023 Met Gala display will include about 150 designs by Lagerfeld from his label and his partnerships with well-known companies including Chloe, Fendi, Chanel, Balmain, and Patou.
For over seven decades, Karl Lagerfeld, who is regarded as one of the most recognisable designers in the world, worked in the fashion business. In the 1950s, he released his first collection, marking the beginning of his career as a designer. In 2019, his final collection was made public. The same year, at the age of 85, Karl Lagerfeld passed away from complications related to pancreatic cancer.

For those who are unaware, The Costume Institute Benefit afterwards referred to as The Gala, is an annual charity event that takes place in the springtime. The 2023 fundraising event is scheduled to start on Monday, May 1. The invitation-only Gala will draw media, influencers, and famous people from all around the world. The celebrity co-chairs of the fundraising in 2023 have not yet been revealed by the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
