Chandigarh: Health workers have started resorting to Maulanas and community radio stations to create awareness among people about vaccination in Haryana, where the vaccination rate is lowest in the entire state, as well as announcements are being made from mosques. According to the information, vaccination began on the same day in Gurugram and Nuh. Between January 16 and May 31, 6.75 lakh people were vaccinated in Gurugram.

The average of every day is close to 5,000, while Nuh has been vaccinated by only 75,000 people in the same time. There are many confusions and rumours behind not getting vaccinated. The vaccine was introduced at about 87 centers in Nuh, many of which have been closed. The immunization official in the district says that vaccination may have to be stopped at about 2 dozen centres due to low number of people coming in. Even the centres that are open are not reaching 100 per cent of the people.

When the media team arrived in Nuh, Haryana to report the ground, there was a strange situation. People in the market here neither wear masks nor come forward to get vaccinated. In fact, there is a rumor behind all this, people here believe that if vaccinated, they will die or become impotent, which is why people here are getting less vaccines.
